Bible Distribution over Easter

Over the Easter weekend some of our Old Scholars, Dave Barnett from the Bible Society and one of our Teachers- Neil Blenkinsop- travelled to Ernabella on the APY Lands for the launch of Godaku Tjukurpa, the new Pitjantjatjara Children's Bible.

It was an honour to be asked to join in the launch by the Pitjantjatjara translators and artists who made the Bible; Neil was invited to share and our Old Scholars led ‘The Blessing’ in song.

After the launch they visited a number of communities and went to Uluru to distribute copies of the Children's Bible and other Scriptural resources published in the Pitjantjatjara language.

Godaku Tjukurpa was originally started by Nami Kulyuru, who had been a teacher, artist and Bible translator in Ernabella and had a long association with Emmaus. After she passed away, Emmaus fundraised money to assist in the completion of the Bible.

The launch was very much in honour of Nami whose inspiration was Matthew 19:14 ‘let the little children come to me’.
